To: ham-digital@ucsd.edu Hello All: I am looking for a ftp mail server which might have the ax.25 source code and/or executables for the Linux clone for unix. I am working on getting a public access linux station available for the chicagoland area, and the ax.25 protocol for linux would be very handy. I know it exists, but my only internet access is through a service which does not yet provide ftp. If any of you reading this happends to have the code, but not know of such a ftp mail site, I would appreciate Email, so we can work out how I re-imberse you for a copy!!! To: ham-digital@ucsd.edu You can try telnetting into 44.16.0.61. That's the JPL Internet link in Pasadena. They might still have the direct conference link which is a 3600 port number, so just add 3600 at the end of the telnet address. As far as I know, there is no password required. I have ftped the ucsd.edu directory /hamradio/packet/tcpip and downloaded the file FAQ-1292 and it has alot of good info but not alot on the NOS files in that directory. Does anyone have a discription of the files in /hamradio/packet/tcpip? In addition, there is a nos.exe file in that directory. Is that compiled for an xt? Finally, can anyone point me to systems other than ucsd.edu that contain tcpip code and info. Thanks in advance! TAPR Special Interest Groups ============================ At its March board meeting, TAPR created three Special Interest Groups (SIG) to help exchange information among packet radio users. These are devoted to BBS issues (BBS SIG), to information about building, maintaining, and extending packet radio networks (NET SIG), and to FCC Regulatory Issues (FCC SIG). All amateurs, TAPR members or not, are welcome to all SIG meetings. The SIG meetings will occur at the Radisson Inn, in the Premier Room Saturday and Sunday evenings. TAPR National BBS SIG Meeting ----------------------------- The BBS SIG held its first meeting on Saturday evening, March 5, 1994, in conjunction with the TAPR annual meeting. This meeting will be the second of three scheduled this year. The BBS SIG is currently considering these issues: o hierarchical addressing o education of users to get the most from the local bulletin boards o education of sysops to get the most from their software o establishing a library of case studies so we're all not constantly 'reinventing the wheel' when we set up or upgrade a BBS o establishing a list of standard 'TO' and '@' fields The Friday evening session will discuss these and look at what other issues the BBS SIG should begin to exam. Please come join this meeting of the minds. Dave Wolf, WO5H, BBS SIG chairperson TAPR Regional Networking SIG ---------------------------- The NET SIG held its first meeting on Friday evening, March 4, 1994, in conjunction with the TAPR annual meeting. Below is the list of current issues. 1. Establish a collection of networking case studies for the benefit of those implementing networks. 2. Establish a database of people interested in networking. 3. Get discussion going on how we're going to interconnect regional networks. 4. Discuss the role of packet <--> internet gateways in the network scheme. The NET SIG will meet at the Radisson Inn in Dayton on Saturday evening, April 30, after the McNasty's packet dinner. Come to the Saturday evening session and LET'S HEAR WHAT YOU THINK ABOUT THESE ISSUES!! What about Syntor X ? > TNX es 73, > Gary I'm no Motorola expert, but i thought all the syntors where synthesized. (otherwise, wouldn't they have called them Crytors?:) The plain vanilla Syntor, is available in several different models for high band, low band, UHF, and 800. There are probably more. I've used both VHF and UHF models successfully on the ham bands, with no conversion other than reprogramming and retuning. (be a little careful, for each band, there are several different ranges of synthesizers, not all the ranges will work in the ham bands) As for setting up the prom information on the radio, it's pretty simple, once you figure out all the pin-shift stuff, and frequency data for the synthesizer dividers. I'll bet the info is motorola proprietary, so there is no way I can give you any of the data or prom information, but any dealer should be able to get 90% of the data correct from the factory programer. The pin- shifts on the factory programer will probably be incorrect for amateur use, but you can fix those manually. (providing you have a way to edit the prom data) I recently picked up a low band syntor X. Reverse engineering the programming codes on that radio is a tad more tricky. It has MANY more features than the plain syntor. All the PL and DPL codes are programmable, as are a timeout timer, pin-shifts, priority and non-priority scan lists, noise blanker, and squelch modes. It's a nice radio and covers 10 meters thru 6 meters! I'm using mine for 29.6Mhz, state police and fire scanning, and 6 meters, all without doing any hardware conversion! About all i have to do is change the antenna on the car when i switch from 6 to 10. Sorry i can't supply you with detailed data for setting up the radio, but if you just need some info on the pin shifts or synthesizer ranges, i may be able to help you out. FYI the pin shift info and SOME of the programing information is available in the Motorola service manual. Again, the internal specifics of the prom data is probably owned by Motorola, so check with a dealer if you don't have a GOOD logic analyzer and a lot of patience ! Maybe in another 10 years or so, the prom information will be public domain! (or at least Motorola won't care if it is handed around) 73 de brian e. ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 20 Apr 1994 02:53:59 GMT From: ihnp4.ucsd.edu!usc!howland.reston.ans.net!europa.eng.gtefsd.com!library.ucla.edu!news.ucdavis.edu!csus.edu!netcom.com!fmitch@network.ucsd.edu Subject: TI 320C26 DSP Eval Kit To: ham-digital@ucsd.edu Jim Lill (jpll@vectorbd.com) wrote: : Has anybody done anything with TI's $99 320C26 Evaluation Kit? : -Jim wa2zkd : -- : - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - : -Jim Lill- Vector Board BBS : jpll@vectorbd.com 716-544-1863/2645 : wa2zkd@wb2psi.#wny.ny.usa.na GEnie: ZKD who has the kits? anybody have an 800 number where they can be obtained??? mitch fmitch@netcom.com -- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- fmitch@netcom.com Felton "Mitch" Mitchell, WA4OSR in Mobile, Alabama USA 205-342-7259 home, 205-476-4100 work, 205-476-0465 FAX co-sysop for W4IAX bbs running fbb ... sysop for WA4OSR DXCluster in Mobile.. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------ Date: 19 Apr 94 17:44:00 -0500 From: blkcat!org!fidonet!z1!n109!f239!William.Boan@uunet.uu.net Subject: WEFAX To: ham-digital@ucsd.edu I have heard of people using their HF receivers, to receive the WEFAX signal from Spacenet3 T17.
